"The thought that stops thought, is the only thought that should be stopped."
-G.K. Chesterton

The value of reflection in existentialism is a fairly common philosophical concept. Perhaps, because philosopher's ARE thinkers, they value thinking?

Some Impressions of Existentialism

Is existentialism philosophy? In comparison with other branches of philosophy, it feels a little Top 40. It's as if existentialist philosopher's, in an attempt to redress traditional philosophy; have, by attempting to revise the philosophical game, refused to play it.

It feels hard to talk about existential ideas and those of other philosophers. They seem to come at problems from different angles, bypassing debate or dialogue. Is this a philosophical expression of left/right brain dominance? The artist and the mathematician?

Frankly My Dear, I just don't give a Damn

I really have no desire to say anything right now. Not only am I convinced I have nothing meaningful to say, but that were I to accidentally regurgitate a gem rather than a puddle of bile, no one would value it or even have an opportunity or desire to assess its value.

Inner Voice Ousted

One of my obstacles to accomplishing what I want with my life is my doing things that I want to do, but don't really want to accomplish. Indulgences in entertainment and suspension of effort are things I relish and desire to do, but are also things I don't desire to accomplish. I would much rather cease to be sidetracked from accomplishing, but this rarely happens. In fact, it usually out of boredom with the diversion that I eventually turn to that which I need to accomplish. What is it about the meaningful thing that is so repugnant to me?
